Job offer-Research professional in HPLC and mass spectrometry

Back to the list

CERC-MEND is looking to hire a research professional!

Research environment:

The Quebec Heart and Lung Institute Research centre

Deadline to apply: July 31 2021

The Quebec Heart and Lung Institute Research Centre (CRIUCPQ) is the only center subsidized by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) that brings together research areas in cardiology, pneumology and obesity/metabolism, three fields that are considered priorities because of the considerable economic and societal impact of the diseases that are related to them. In particular, you will be part of the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) on the microbiome-endocannabinoidome axis in metabolic health, led by Dr. Vincenzo Di Marzo, with four additional professors (including Nicolas Flamand who is responsible for the spectrometry equipment) and their teams. The mission of the Chair is to discover new therapeutic targets and design innovative nutritional and medical strategies to maintain health and prevent the development of societal metabolic diseases.

Description of functions

  • Development of analytical methods by LC-MS/MS (Shimadzu LC 8050).
  • Development of automated methods for the isolation of molecules of interest using a robotic station (SPE, LLE, SLE; Hamilton STARLab).
  • Development of analytical methods by MALDI-imaging (Brucker Rapiflex) on different tissues.
  • Small molecule quantification by LC-MS/MS using existing methods.
  • Management of the equipment park (HPLC (2), LC-MS/MS (1) and MALDI (1).
  • Administration associated with the management of the equipment pool.
  • Participation in CERC and other relevant scientific meetings.

Specific requirements

You must be autonomous and have strong expertise in HPLC, sample preparation (SPE, SLE and/or LLE) as well as documented expertise in quantitative mass spectrometry using tripe-quadrupole technology. Expertise in MALDI would be an asset.
